Onda is the musical duo of Chris Pumphrey and Kristen Toedtman, longtime collaborators whose sound balances sophistication with intimacy, inviting listeners into an immersive sonic space where music becomes a means of reflection, connection, and renewal. Blending guitars, violin, vocal harmony and modern arranging, Onda creates music that is both grounded and expansive—rooted in nature and shaped by curiosity, rigor, and presence.
Drawing from backgrounds in jazz, world, ancient and modern classical music and communal song traditions, Onda gravitates towards the sonic traditions of Mesoamerica - Bossa Nova and Umbanda from Brazil; old and new folk from Chile and Argentina, hymns evoking the wisdom of ancestors and celebrating the human experience. Their arrangements are marked by layered harmony, spacious textures, and a deep respect for lineage, allowing each song to unfold with freshness and depth.
Onda continue their journey by beginning anew. A new recording begins in 2026 while the duo hone their live set, utilizing loops to create rich layers of guitar, vocal harmonies, violin and percussion. Stay tuned and join the adventure.
